Flickering lights can be caused by a loose connection, a faulty circuit, or a problem with your power supply. It is worth having a professional inspect it. What looks minor can sometimes signal a larger issue in the panel or wiring.
-
Signs that wiring may need replacement include lights that dim or flicker, a burning plastic smell, visible sparks, warm or hot outlet covers, and circuit breakers that trip frequently. If you have older aluminum wiring, that is a separate risk. Aluminum wiring carries a significantly higher fire risk than copper and is worth a professional assessment.
-
Watch for double-tapped breakers, frequent power surges, flickering lights, or visible rust and corrosion on the panel. If your panel is old or you are adding major appliances, an EV charger, or a hot tub, it is time for an inspection. Our electricians recommend professional panel maintenance at least every three years.
-
If your area experiences power outages more than three times a year, if you have lengthy blackouts in summer heat or winter cold, or if losing power creates real risk like freezing pipes, food spoilage, or medical equipment failure, a standby generator is worth serious consideration. ICT Electric, LLC handles the full installation: sizing, wiring, permits, and testing.
-
GFCI outlets protect against electrocution and are required near water sources like kitchens, bathrooms, garages, and outdoor areas. AFCI breakers protect against arc faults that can spark electrical fires. Both are required by current electrical code, and older homes often do not have them installed correctly.
-
Code requirements change over time, and older homes may have systems that were legal when installed but no longer meet current standards. An electrical safety inspection from ICT Electric, LLC will identify any code issues, which matters for home insurance, home sales, and general safety.
-
The National Fire Protection Association recommends replacing smoke detectors every 10 years. Signs of a failing unit include frequent false alarms or a unit that does not respond when tested. ICT Electric, LLC installs and inspects smoke detectors as part of our whole-home electrical safety services.
-
Yes. We install dedicated EV charging circuits for home use. The right setup depends on your vehicle, your panel capacity, and where you want the charger located. Call us and we will walk you through the options.
