The Aluminum Problem
The aluminum wiring problem
If your home was built in the 1960s or early 1970s, there's a good chance it has aluminum wiring — and that's a serious safety concern. Aluminum expands and contracts more than copper when it heats up, which loosens connections over time. Loose connections overheat. Overheated connections start fires.
The fix isn't always full rewiring. For many homes, installing purpose-built aluminum-to-copper pigtails at every connection point is an accepted, code-compliant repair. For others, a partial or full rewire makes more sense. We inspect, explain your options, and recommend the right fix for your home — not the most expensive one.
Aluminum wiring and home insurance
Many insurance companies will not cover homes with untreated aluminum wiring. Addressing it — whether through pigtailing or rewiring — protects your family AND your ability to insure your home.
